TimescaleDB

TimescaleDB is a PostgreSQL extension that allows for high-performance real-time analysis on time series and event data. It works by editing data in hypertables (hypertables) structure and offering column-based storage (columnstore) support. It can be integrated into the PostgreSQL environment with Docker or direct installation methods.

What can it do?
  • With continuous sums (continuous aggregates), you refresh summary queries such as hours incrementally in the background and speed up analysis in large data sets.
  • Using the hypertable structure, you can identify IoT sensor data and write that data directly to the column-based storage unit.
  • You can query analytical data with standard SQL queries via PostgreSQL clients or graphical interface tools.
